For those of you who care, I dusted off the old manuscript. It’s about a small town Sheriff’s Daughter and HAARP. The setup: evil people trying to control the world, good cop gets killed, daughter seeks justice… you know… just a typical day in my head!

Here’s a little bit of the opening (rough draft):

The phone rang. It was Mikey, Sarah’s younger brother.

“Yeah, I know,” she said quietly, “I’ll see you there. No. Don’t worry. I’ll be fine. We’ll get through this together. I promise.”

“Thank you, Sarah. I wouldn’t know what to do without you. I’ll see you soon.”

Sarah hung up the phone. She was miserable, but she knew Mikey wouldn’t be able to make the arrangements on his own. Despite everything that happened, she knew she had to do this.

Sarah Murphy was no stranger to tragedy and loss. Nearly eighteen years had passed since her mother died. Sarah was the one who found her. A self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Her mother’s body covered in Whiskey and blood. Her dark, alcohol-heavy eyes stuck in an endless stare. She remembers like it was yesterday…

“Daddy!” Sarah screamed into the receiver, “It’s mom! She’s dead!”

“Calm down, honey. Where are you?”

“I’m home, Daddy. Please hurry. Please come home. I don’t know what to do!”

Sarah closed her eyes tight; a small tear escaped. She remembers the day her father, Sergeant Michael Murphy Sr., raced home to help his little girl. Now, at forty years of age, Sarah was about to be an orphan. Her father was dying, and his killer awaiting trial.

~ Ha! The good news is… it doesn’t suck quite as much as I remember! =)

Ok, enough bloggin’… I need to get this show on the road!
